When Bubly Walia started a small business about 25 years ago, selling her specialty samosas to local Calgary restaurants, she never expected it to grow into one of Calgary’s premier Indian restaurants. Built upon years of cooking alongside her mother, Bubly grew the business from her kitchen to her garage, and in 2010 moved into a 60-seat restaurant on Panatella Boulevard. With the help of sons Johnny and Jay Walia, Tamarind East Indian Restaurant was born. With authentic regional sauces, curries and hand-ground spices (prepared fresh daily), Tamarind offers an incredible spin on Northern Indian street food.
